Who do you support in Selma?
Why did we launch IsupportThis Message.com? Yesterday’s speeches in Selma, Alabama by Obama and Hillary offer the perfect reason. The event was the commemoration of the “Bloody Sunday,” March 7, 1965, when civil rights’ protestors where viciously beaten by police — an event that sparked positive civil rights laws. Obama, the child of a Kenyan immigrant and white woman from Kansas, claimed he is “an offspring of the movement,” and that Selma was the site of his “conception,” – figuratively we presume. Hillary on the other hand called the civil rights movement the “gift that keeps on giving,” and that it allowed Obama, Hispanic American Bill Richardson, and herself to run for President.
Now, while I’d love to comment on both of those messages, I’d rather hear it from you. Which message do you support? Either one? Which candidate will capture the minority vote? ISTM allows you to post messages and comment in real time. And, clearly the candidates running for office need your real time feedback. Keep posting.
