However, since a gallon of ethanol contains less energy than a gallon of gasoline, FFVs typically get about 20-30% fewer miles per gallon when fueled with E85. A good strategy for the overwhelming oil crisis going on right now..

Posted by: Aiko on 07/20/2007 E85 is an alcohol fuel mixture that typically contains a mixture of up to 85% denatured fuel ethanol and gasoline or other hydrocarbon by volume. On an undenatured basis, the ethanol component ranges from 70% to 83%. It's widely used now in Sweden, and is becoming increasingly common here in US.
